Got Hope?

I remember reading a heart rending story about a man trapped in a railroad refrigeration car. He worked for the railroad and had been warned that there was only enough air in such a car to sustain a man for 24 hours. He tried to make noise, but no help came. He watched the hours pass. He began to write of his experience. As he approached the 24 hour mark he described his shortness of breath, anticipating the end was near. In the 24th hour, he died! When “help” arrived a few hours later, they discovered him, his notes, and more than enough oxygen in the car to sustain him for at least another day! Hope is even more vital than oxygen! 

Giving Thanks

On the week the nation is scheduled to enjoy “a day of thanks giving,” where will the news turn? With most people more into a holiday than a holy day, where will your thoughts turn?

Don’t Forget to Remember!

Can you remember something you don’t know? Perhaps you can “guess well” on a multiple choice test, but that isn’t really “remembering.” I think with pleasant wonder on the lyric of a John Fischer song about a time that awaits us in Heaven, when we will sing a song “from memory” although we “have never heard it sung before.”

Surprise, Surprise, Surprise!

Some of you are old enough to remember Gomer Pyle USMC and the many “Surprise! Surprise!” encounters with “Sarge.” Have you ever been surprised by an unexpected visitor? I mean really surprised?
